Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams Review

Disclaimer: I am reviewing these books from the way I felt about it and it's all my personal opinion love you guys!

Book Summary:

So this book is about a woman named Annie Walker who has a flower shop in a small town called Rome, Kentucky. She is very cute but is very socially awkward at times especially when she's on a date. When she goes on dates she gets bad anxiety and has a hard time talking to her dates without making a fool of herself. Her soon to be sister in law sees the trouble she's having and devises a plan. So her sister in law is a pop star and she has a bodyguard named Will Griffin. He is totally against marriage and all things serious but he is not shy to the dating world so she sets up Will to teach Annie how to date. They believe that this may be okay because he doesn't want anything serious and she wants to settle down, or maybe its more complicated than that!

Spoiler free review:

I gave this book 6/5 stars. I absolutely loved it! I felt so connected to Annie because I am someone who doesn’t really know how to talk to guys, but I’ve never been on a date so she has one on me. Her love for reading brought warmth into my soul and she is very much an adventurous spirit if she fully allows herself to be. Will's character was blushin, kicking my feet, all the things ya'll. Their banter and the way they were with each other gave me butterflies. I started this book at like 9pm and I stayed up until almost 3am to finish it because I couldn’t put it down. I also really love her brother Noah and his soon to be wife because I feel that they understood Annie better than the rest of her family and the townspeople.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Now I will tell you that these sisters could get on my nerves a little bit only because they really didn’t let Annie be herself. They put her in this box that she didn’t want to be in but the town did it as well. I was so excited when she decided to get the tattoo she had wanted for so long because I know if I got one, my parents would be mad at me. I also love how the story taught her to be honest about her true self and to also realize she is allowed to grieve the death of her parents despite being so young. She felt as if she had to be the strong one as the youngest since her siblings remembered more about them. Annie didn’t understand she had every right to grieve, and to heal from everything people believed but also the things she believed about herself.

The town having a meeting to discuss the relationship between Will and Annie made me so mad like, what gives you the right. I was flabbergasted by the way these people thought they could just vote on something like this when Annie struggles with being comfortable in dating/relationships. It doesn’t get too spicy with the couple. There are a couple of kissing scenes that get heated but it was like a closed do romance that didn’t go into too much detail. I love the communication that Will and Annie have during the process as well because he was always trying to make her feel comfortable and always asking for consent.

One part that really stuck out is when he called her sexy and she got upset because she thought he was just playing a role for the fake dating act when he was being genuine. When she realized he was being genuine I broke at her reaction. I really connected to her with that because as someone who has never been pursued by a man who genuinely I would think about dating as more than just a cute friend or someone who doesn’t have the same morals as me.Never lower your standards girls, I fully believe God will send me the perfect man for me who loves all ove me and I believe he will do the same for you.
